Czarna pantera - to główna inspiracja, jaką kierował się Tinker, podczas projektu Air Jordan XIII. Miało odzwierciedlać to, grę Jordan'a, w obronie. Sami jego znajomi, nazywali go "Black Cat", ponieważ na sam widok potężnego zawodnika Chicago Bulls, zawodnicy gubili piłki i rozdawali darmowe przechwyty.
